กลุ่มทอผ้าบ้านป่าแดด เริ่มเปิดดำเนินการเมื่อ 1 กรกฎาคม 2542 โดยการรวมกลุ่มของสตรีที่มีใจรักในด้านการทอผ้าได้รับงบประมาณสนับสนุนจากองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลท่าผาจำนวนเงิน 120,000 บาท สมาชิกรวมกันลงหุ้น ๆ ละ 100 บาท จำนวน 2,680 หุ้น เป็นจำนวนเงิน 26,800 บาท การดำเนินงานโดยมีคณะกรรมการตัวแทนของหมู่บ้านร่วมกันบริหารงาน โดยการจัดหาวัตถุดิบมาบริการแก่สมาชิก และรับซื้อรวบรวมผลิตภัณฑ์ของสมาชิก เพื่อนำมาแปรรูปแล้วจำหน่าย การดำเนินงานของกลุ่มทอผ้าบ้านป่าแดด เจริญเติบโตและก้าวหน้ามาเป็นลำดับ นับว่าประสบผลสำเร็จพอสมควร เมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2546 ทางกลุ่มได้รับงบประมาณโครงการกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจ ตำบลละ 1,000,000 บาท เพื่อสร้างอาคารและจัดซื้อวัตถุดิบ ปี พ.ศ. 2548 ทางกลุ่มได้รับงบพัฒนาหมู่บ้าน OTOP ต้นแบบบ้านป่าแดด จำนวน 365,300บาท ทางกลุ่มได้นำมาปรับปรุงห้องจำหน่ายสินค้าปละปรับปรุงลานจอดรถที่หน้าศูนย์ ฯ ปี พ.ศ. 2549 ได้รับงบประมาณสนับสนุน 100,000 บาท จากองค์การบริหารส่วนตำบลท่าผา เพื่อนำไปพัฒนากลุ่มอาชีพและพัฒนาผลิตภัณฑ์สินค้าของกลุ่มทอผ้าบ้านป่าแดดได้อีกด้วย และยังเป็นการสร้างงานสร้างรายได้ให้กับคนในชุมชนที่มีฝีมือและความสนใจ และยังเป็นการใช้เวลาว่างให้เกิดประโยชน์อีกด้วย สามารถทำเป็นอาชีพเสริมให้กับครอบครัวได้ และทางกลุ่มก็จะมีวิทยากรที่คอยให้ความรู้และสาธิต กระบวนการแปรรูปผลิตภัณฑ์สินค้า ให้กับผู้ที่สนใจอยากจะศึกษาหาความรูเเพิ่มเติม สามารถจะนำความรู้ที่ได้ไปต่อยอด หรือนำความรู้ที่ได้ไปใช้ให้เกิดประโยชน์
